This small series of ten folky, singer-songwriter songs spans the themes of my first few sessions: the courage of moving forward into counseling even on a day when it feels like I don’t really need it; the struggle of identifying traumas and their sources; the insecurities of being an artist who needs an audience; the sorrow of letting down the people I love most; and many other things I am just beginning to open up.
I hope this album can be helpful to others — especially those who are struggling under the stigma of addressing their own mental health, or going back and forth about whether or not to find an objective ear to listen. I know that counseling has been helpful. I also know that the creation of these songs has been helpful to me. I hope they might be helpful to others as well.
In the end, despite all the political tensions, the traumatic experiences, the interpersonal conflicts, and the very down days — it’s still good to be here.
