Lyrics

Verse 1 I found an old frame in the attic, No glass, no backing, just the wood, Held it up against the evening Just to see if I still could. The clouds moved slow behind the corners, The wind said nothing new, But something in the shape it gave Made the whole thing feel more true. Chorus It’s the same sky, same weight of blue, But it changes when you choose Where to stand, what to hold, And what you’re willing to lose. Some days I don’t know what I’m doing, Some days I almost do— Just putting frames around the sky And hoping something gets through. Verse 2 I’ve seen love become a stranger, I’ve seen strangers start to bloom, I’ve mistaken dust for silence In an ordinary room. I’ve left words on napkins, I’ve thrown lines out to the breeze, Not everything returns to you, But sometimes it finds peace. Chorus It’s the same sky, same stretch of light, But it softens when it’s named, Even sorrow finds its edges Once it’s framed. I’m not chasing perfect pictures, Just trying to catch what’s true— By putting frames around the sky And offering a view. Bridge I don’t need to own the moment, Or explain the why or how— Just to notice what was given, And where I am right now. Final Chorus So here’s this sky, with its unfinished blue, Here’s this frame I made for you. Hold it up to where it hurts, To something passing through. No promise it’ll last the night, But sometimes that’s enough— Just framing what I can’t explain And calling it love.

Song story & origins

Mark once had a lovely old wooden picture frame with nothing in it. No glass, no picture—just a frame he could hold up around whatever happened to be there. A bit of wallpaper. Somebody’s face. The sky. And the funny thing was, it worked: people looked again. Remembering that little experiment got Scott and Mark talking about what artists really offer. Sometimes it’s simply a way to notice what’s been there all along. That empty frame gave this song its beginning.
