BUYING MOCCASINS
Now ya don't use mink-oil on suede,
he says, the owner of the Big Red Indian
grub, gas, souvenir shop he says, It
ruins the nap--
use this here, he says, and hands me a spray can
of silicone.
Nine dollars and ninety-five cents, he says.
What did the Indians use? I ask.
He leans his cigarette grin closer Bear shit, he
says.
By the way, he says, and coughs, winks,
Never trust a man with a back room full of live
snakes.
