Falling
Though they had laughed
and pointed—
me, sprawled in the street
fat lip
bent bike
spinning wheel
Though I wanted her
to gather me into her
arms
carry me home
soft kiss
warm smile cool sheets
when I said
I'm fine her gift
was turning away
