The Fire Inside
This is not the Christmas
we planned—
but the fire still crackles, and
someone you love just
laughed from the other room.
You wore green. I wore
purple. And somehow, it worked.
Somewhere, a turkey
lived. Somewhere, you were
missed.
Still, the season holds.
