She
With words selected from Wendell Berry's
Winter Night Poem
The night she leaves begins
in darkness. He turns toward her
sleeping form, discovers
absence, becomes an old man picking
through photos, hungry
among galaxies in the naked
sky. These patrons only observe his cries,
indifferent. Even grave flowers begin as
light as seeds.
