Spring Planting
The Spring is yours, my friend.
We have seen many melting snows, have
smelled the first lilacs and even
scattered wildflowers in the grass near the
wishing-well.
It's time for a new birth, a reawakening, and the
rain that brings life.
I am still small under the darkening sky watching
you run fast down the blocks
until your speck turns
out of sight toward your
house.
I have cried at our parting before,
but I continue to dream
of some tomorrow I'll spend again with you.
