Poem segment 1
VII. Shared World
There is no final answer waiting.
Only participation.
A father teaching his daughter
how to knead bread.
Someone translating grief
into music loud enough
for strangers to recognize.
A person alone at midnight
choosing carefully
which sentence to send.
Meaning keeps moving.
From body to body.
From silence into language.
From one generation’s confusion
into another generation’s metaphor.
We inherit structures
already in motion.
We add our weight to them.
Attention matters because of this.
Not to stop the process—
nothing stops it—
but to remain present inside it.
To notice what we are carrying forward.
To ask whether the world
we are helping construct
is one we can still recognize
when it reaches someone else.
The shared world forms gradually.
Conversation by conversation.
Story by story.
Response by response.
And we are inside that making
all the time.
