Yesterday
has him
on his knees
sun rising
beyond Spearfish peak.
Between,
a canyon yawns
pink granite blue spruce
slate shadows.
Tomorrow…, he says
blurring his vision against the
canyon walls until the day
is a wash,
fading and running
blending
Tomorrow I leave.
And gentle clouds
huge, white
empty
troll so easily by
he no longer brings anything into focus.
