Modeling Agency
We are afraid, but we try anyway.
We write with students, we wonder aloud,
we say “I don’t know— let’s find out.”
We choose awkward, brave, and kind.
And we place one more log
on the slow fire of becoming—
until the warmth is something
they can sit beside.
